A Common Mis-Understanding

28/9/2012

I hope this finds you well! You probably know that I have been quite busy organizing the up-coming event with Dr. Jack Pransky in the last few weeks. There was lots to do and understandably......... people would expect me to be stressed. And I was.........., until yesterday afternoon!!!! I suddenly realized that I was doing it again,  I thought that my circumstances (= lots to do in less and less time) are responsible for how I feel = stressed!!! The very instant I woke up to the fact that it was nothing more than me feeling my thinking, the tension dropped and I was even smiling about myself.

Just a few hours later I found myself with a head-ache, feeling low and under pressure again - how can that be?! Well, it is really simple. At any given moment in time we are feeling our thinking. Thinking changes all the time. Therefore the best thing to do is "DO NOTHING". The moment our mind relaxes, our thinking slows down and we automatically get fresh thoughts that feel much nicer. The way I feel does not depend on my circumstances but on how I think about them at the time, and that can change in an instant. This is why I love this inside-out understanding so much, because it is simple, there is nothing to do and I feel so much better ;-)

All there is to "do" is, see it for yourself.

Simple Truths for Living Well

14/9/2012

I hope this finds you well! Do you remember, in my last email I let you know about the big changes in my life. How complicated I used to make things for myself, just to find out that life is really quite easy.... We have been taught - innocently - to look into the wrong direction when looking for solutions. In our society we are mostly made to believe that happiness comes from the outside, like
  • in advertising: "when we get that new car/house/phone/gadget of any kind... it will make us happy" (I had a new car nearly two years ago and I can tell you, the happiness lasted 15 minutes only).
  • People innocently think the weather/a person/the amount of money in the bank/... (fill in the blank) is responsible for how they feel...
  • Or we think "if only this or that problem would be resolved... we would be happy" - we are forever waiting for a certain circumstance to fall into place and then we would be happy........ Whoever experienced that this very circumstance really got resolved, have you been happy ever since?? Or did you just come up with another thing that you needed in order to become "really happy" now???

In reality we are missing the present moment, we are overlooking that which we already are or have, as our focus goes to that, which we are waiting for. It happened to me.... I never appreciated what I already had in my life, instead I was forever wallowing about that which I wanted to change in order to become happy. I can tell you, I used to miss most of my life this way, never saw the beauty in that which I had in my life, like a beautiful husband, a wonderful home and everything else that I had going for me...

This revelation I had just recently while I was searching my computer for a certain photo I knew I had taken ages ago. As I was scanning through thousands of pics I came across a few pictures taken on Chrismas one year and guess what!! I saw myself in those pictures but couldn't believe that I did not have ANY memory of that my Mum and a good friend of mine, Katrin, both were spending the festive season with us here in Spain.......... I simply wasn't there!! I was in the pictures but I wasn't present as my mind must have been elsewhere........ Now that made me think!!!

Only after learning some simple truths about how the human experience really works, all this makes sense to me. Most of the times I was living in my head only and missed what was really happening.  Now I understand how I created this experience for myself and how I was misguided in forever looking outside of myself for solutions. No point in looking back, things can not be changed. But it is never too late to live differently from now on...

    Disclaimer:

All blog posts and videos point to our innate health and wisdom we have access to when in a state of peace of mind. Listening to our inner voice or wisdom does not mean to "do nothing" but to act from the most calm and certain state of mind possible, from where solutions and options can emerge we have not thought of before. Conventional as well as alternative medicine have their place and are essential part of our available choices. When in any doubt, always consult with your doctor. Afterwards, decisions can be best made with a clear head.
